But when I try to install it, after about 15 seconds, I get this message: "/home/dave/.hplip/hplip-3.15.n file does not match its checksum. Now when I try to scan, besides the "scanner failed to connect" I also get the message that a required HP plug-in needs to be installed. Anyway, after this 'upgrade', the printer still works but no scanner. I originally had HPLIP v 3.15.6 after installing Mint 17.2 so this seems odd however my printer appears to be an older model so maybe an earlier version of HPLIP was installed automatically. That PC died and switched to a new one and installed Windows 8.1 - 64 bit. It was working fine with a PC running Windows 7 - 32bit. I installed Mint 17.2 MATE a few days ago with little difficulty including my HP printer worked OK but I noticed that the HP desktop icon was missing & the scanner didn't work When I tried 'simple scan' I always get the message "Scanner failed to connect". I have a HP LaserJet 1536dnf MFP connected in our network.
